QUESTION

How come is there no free ministry happening in our church? It seems only the pastors or elect few get to say something to the congregation. What if God wants to use a nobody to bring a message to the church through prophecy, tongues or a song or however He chooses?

RESPONSE

Good day and thank you for your question. It’s an interesting one as we are a church definitely open to and encouraged by free ministry. In fact we have songs spontaneously sung by people in the congregation when they feel prompted by God. We have prophetic words shared and encouragements when people come forward. Perhaps the few you refer to are just the bolder ones, who are stepping out in faith.

I understand what you mean when you say ” what if God wants to use a nobody ” because He does and certainly speaks to all his people. Personally I prefer to not refer to them as ” nobody’s” as in Immanuel we go after raising our awareness that we are highly valued and favored by God, all of us who are his beloved children.
In a practical note it’s interesting in that at our 7:45 am meeting we have the least amount of spontaneous contributions.( not because we don’t want it, I think it’s just that people are still ” waking up “.
At our second meeting we sometimes have more than 4 and not everyone gets a chance to share it on that particular Sunday.
Our 5 pm meeting is smaller and much more free in opportunity to share, with less time constraints .
I hope this helps and I hope you are one who will be bold enough to come forward to the leader who is overseeing the worship meeting and share your contribution.
I hope I have helped answer your question. We love God’s people sharing and exhorting each other.
Much grace.
